will be a charity show to raise funds for AMREF, the African Medical Research Foundation.

Odissea the Musical is based on the Homer's masterpiece Odyssey. Whereas the musical transformation of the Odyssey has taken into consideration the plot, anyway, it has also emphasised the language to involve the spectator who will feel drawn into the work itself. Odissea the Musical, in its complete version, is made up of three acts of approximately 45 minutes each, with a duration, excluding intervals, of two hours and 25 minutes: Telemachus and the Prologue, the Adventure, the Return, for a total of 23 pieces of music.
As far as the staging is concerned, apart from traditional elements, modern techniques in 3D using polarised lenses will be employed, making it impossible to distinguish the real-life actors from those which — like Polyphemus or the monster Scylla, for example — have been created by the use of 3D computer graphics. The audio will be relayed through Dolby Surround. About 18 singers, 20 dancers and 8 acrobats will be employed in the production.
The musical will be performed in Italian theatres since July 2008.
The Second Life version is a live performance of 10 out of the 25 musical scenes of the original musical. It will last more than one hour and the singers will be the same of the "real life" show. This performance has two objectives: to promote the original musical, and to raise funds for AMREF, the African Medical Research Foundation. The Second Life project involved over fifthy people for about six months. Most of building and scripting was expressly developed for the musical. Only few objects and animations have been purchased in world. Most avatars, skins, shapes, clothes, accessories, scenes, gestures, and animations have been specially designed according to researches about the culture and habits of Ancient Greece.
The preparation of the virtual version of the show was a huge effort since Second Life was not designed for this kind of events. The production team had to solve many technical problems and to test several alternatives in order to develop a solution to the desired level of quality. The final result is not as good as the original musical, of course, which takes advantage of the best available technologies on the marketplace, but it is surely outstanding for Second Life. Just an example: the Pæstum theatre is probably the bigger lift ever built in Second Life; raised at the crossing of four islands, it may host over 300 avatars.

Singers are Tommaso Fichele (Ulysses), Flavio Capasso (Telemachus), Brunella Platania (Penelope), Alfina Scorza (Athena), Maria Massa (Euryclea), Raffaele Di Gregorio (Polyphemus), Concetta De Luisa (Calypso), Roberta Andreozzi (Circe), Vito Pepe (Antinous), Domenico Prezioso (Eurymachus and Medont), and Carmine De Luca (Eurylochus). Cast is made by Lino Di Gianni [Lino Morigi], Valentina Ferrari [Saytona Chemistry], Emanuele Franceschini [Emanuele Dench], Martino Sturaro [Montolio Paine], Eliana De Vita [Eliana Iuga], and Paolo Catoni [Poll Wuyts].

Vorrei che leggeste una storia, così come riportata attraverso le parole del protagonista della stessa. Prima, tuttavia, alcune considerazioni.

La discriminazione di genere non paga. Non paga quando a farla sono gli uomini, ma non paga neppure quando a farla sono le donne. Un esempio? La campagna elettorale promossa dal Forum delle Donne a sostegno della Sinistra Arcobaleno l'Otto Marzo. Sinceramente ho seri dubbi che ne trarranno una lezione. Chi è abituato a discriminare, come razzisti o sessisti, si guarda bene dall'ammettere che il proprio modo di pensare sia sbagliato e ingiusto. Sicuramente attribuiranno la sconfitta ad altro e probabilmente in parte avranno anche ragione. Certo è che atteggiamenti nazisti come questo non aiutano ad avere fiducia in un partito, neppure da parte delle donne.
Un commento di una mia amica quando ha visto il manifesto riportato sotto a sinistra, riassume bene tutto ciò: «"Quelle" hanno decisamente dei problemi!» Cosa fare contro questo tipo di persone? Arrabbiarsi non serve, quindi tanto vale scherzarci sopra. Date un'occhiata alla versione in basso a destra del manifesto. Forza, seppelliamole con una risata!

Cosa dire a riguardo? Beh, come forse alcuni di voi sapranno, non mi ha mai interessato a quale partito o schieramento appartenesse un candidato quando si è trattato di decidere se votarlo o meno, ma solo quali fossero le sue posizioni sui vari problemi sui quali si era proposto. Fermo restando quindi che le parole di un politico sono sempre e solo tali fintanto che non si vedono dei fatti, devo ammettere che almeno le sue sono state chiare e nella direzione che da molto tempo auspico, io così come molti altri genitori separati che da anni si battono per la bigenitorialità. Se poi fosse eletto e non dovesse mantenere le promesse, gliene chiederemo atto, ma rispetto a chi quelle parole non le ha mai pronunciate, e mi riferisco tanto a Rutelli quanto a Veltroni — e non che non fosse stato chiesto più volte loro di pronunciarle — esiste un baratro. A questo punto ho fatto la mia scelta e non ho problemi a dichiararla. Voterò per Gianni Alemmanno e poi mi premurerò di ricordargli, dovesse diventare Sindaco, di questa sua promessa.
Few months ago I had a very heated argument with a guy from France. He insisted on saying that I never published the books that I wrote since he was not able to find them in Internet by ISBN. It was probably only a provocation, of course, since it is not so difficult to find my books in Internet, both on the publisher sites and in the major Italian on-line bookstore, but it was founded on a fact too: most of the search engine for books are based on few databases owned by a limited number of providers, and very few of them list Italian books. Generally speaking, few of them list non-English books. The most famous one is probably Amazon. Now, if you search for 88-344-1882-4 in Amazon you will get no result. So, it looks like that book does not exist! Curious, isn't it, since I have that volume just now in front of me on my table, and it is not a self-published book but it was published by one of the most famous Italian publishers of fantasy novels, the Armenia Publishing Group.
Of course I am not a famous writer, so you may think that Amazon will list only the most popular titles. OK, let us make an experiment: look in Amazon for 88-045-2046-9. No result again. Another unknown Italian author? Well, not really: that code is the ISBN of "Tutte le Cosmicomiche" by Italo Calvino, one of the most famous modern Italian writers, published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore, one of the most important publishers in Italy! Do you still think that such a book does not exist since it is not in Amazon? Search for 01-562-2600-6. Got it: "Cosmicomics" by Italo Calvino, published by Harvest Books! Of course it is the English translation of the original work, since Calvino wrote it in Italian language. So, here is the first problem: not all Italian books are listed in Amazon, even if the author or the publishers are very famous. Well, I feel better. It looks like Calvino has my same problems. Note, anyway, that you can find a lot of information on Calvino in Internet, but that a significant percentage is in English. Only 60,000 pages out of more than 900,000 are in Italian language. If fame would be measured only by the number of pages in the Calvino's language, that is, Italian, he would have a rating lower than Dan Brown, who can count on more than 6 million pages.
